Malopolska Researchers Night 2018

Once again the members of Max Planck Research Group participated in the organization of the Malopolska Researchers Night at the Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology. On the 28th of September, we were visited by dozens of children, teenagers, and parents in order to learn about the secrets of the scientists work. Our group members prepared a workshop titled: What are proteins and why are they so important?

During the classes, participants have been introduced to the world of molecular biology. They had the opportunity to meet model organisms and learn about methods that scientists use for structural research. Kids saw the crystallization robot at work and were especially amazed by our 3D glasses used to visualize obtained protein structures. The workshop aims to show how research on the biochemical structure of proteins can be fundamental for developing a potential treatment for neurodegenerative diseases in the future. Many thanks to people involved for your hard work and dedication to promote science.
