Our third-year PhD student, Priyanka, was selected to participate in the Cryo-EM Autumn School held at the Vienna Biocenter. The program commenced with lectures covering fundamental concepts of electron microscopy, protein purification, and sample preparation. Throughout the course, participants received hands-on training using the Vitrobot and honed their skills in manual plunger handling. Additionally, the course encompassed cryo-electron tomography sample preparation, a live tomography session, and data processing. Renowned experts led the workshop, attracting a diverse international cohort eager to learn cryo-EM data processing.

Priyanka also presented a poster at the embedded cryo-EM symposium during the course. She also had the opportunity to explore Vienna’s Christmas markets and indulge in warm chestnuts and traditional wien cuisine.
